Great video. Simple, informative and straight to the point. The visuals are also very helpful. Thank you for putting this together.
This was so clearly explained that it's hard to imagine someone getting it wrong after watching your video. Thank you very much for your time and beautifully made video!
Your presentation and explanation was clean and simple! You my man, just earned yourself a sub
THANK YOU!!! never thought it would be so difficult to find a video that just simply and plainly explains what you just did, my hats off to you sir.
I read on a few different forums that connecting via hdmi from console to sound bar to tv can add video input lag. Not sure if this has ever been tested or not, but unless it's a direct passthrough, I imagine it does add a little bit of input lag. Some older soundbars can't passthrough 4k either, so beware of that as well if you have a 4k tv
Awesome, perfect explanation. Simple and fast, to the point. Thanks
Hey, man. Great video! I'm pretty good with home theater and a/v but I've never dealt with a soundbar before and HDMI ARC so this was helpful. That being said, I bought my parents a soundbar to enhance the sound coming out of the TV. I have the soundbar connected to the HDMI ARC port, the satellite connected to the 2nd HDMI port, and the BR player to the 3rd HDMI port. Once CEC is enabled and I try to switch inputs on the TV, it switches back and forth on its own between the input I'm trying to switch to and the input with the soundbar, then finally it settles back on the input with the soundbar connected. Only when CEC is disabled do I have autonomy over switching inputs. Is that normal if CEC is enabled? Thanks for your help!
Hi Chris. Great videos. Very informative. I have a question though. You mentioned that if you have the possibility of connecting a let's say Blu-ray player directly to the soundbar you have better audio quality because the audio doesn't need to pass through the tv first. My question is as follows: I have a Sony Blu-ray player 4K with 2 HDMI ports. One for both video and audio and one for audio only. Suppose I connect the audio-only to my LG SL9Y soundbar for the best audio quality. The video AND audio HDMI I connect directly to the LG 4k OLED tv since I am not sure if 4k is correctly passed through if it goes via the soundbar first. Now, I have my LG tv connected via ARC to the soundbar as well. If I now play a Blu-ray , doesn't the soundbar receive 2 audiosignals? One from the tv via HDMI ARC and one directly from the Sony Blu-ray audio-only HDMI output? Thanks so much. Cheers from Belgium.
Hi, I have been following your videos. They have really helped me a lot in understanding the nuances of A/V technology. I have a older TCL (non smart) HDCP 1.4 LED TV with a HDMI port (no ARC) and a co-axial optical port. At the moment, I stream all my content (Netflix & Amazon Prime) via a Xbox one S which supports Dolby Atmos and Dts X. I want to utilize the capability of the Xbox and enhance the sound for my TV especially during movies, due to issues with inaudible dialogues when there is a lot of background sounds. I also want to use the same setup to listen to music (I am an audiophile) and want some clear sounds with a punchy bass. At the moment, I'm using a Bose mini which is connected to my TV via the coax optical port and a Digital Optical Coax to Analog RCA Audio Converter Adapter. I am concerned that I spend on a high end setup which is not compatible with my old TV (read limited capability). I don't want to replace my TV, just add a speaker system or soundbar which can suffice my requirements. Can you suggest a good solution? I want something around US$ 400 or lower.
I don't think I have ever learnt so much about one topic in three minutes before! Thanks, really well done! :-)
Brilliant explanation, concise and straight to the point
Thank you! Awesome tutorial, straight to the point no fluff.
I love your channel so much Chris! You helped me pick a projector and now you're making this super easy. Thanks!
Just what I needed to know... and more. I wish more but not all youtube videos were this simple and to the point and informative.
Simple, clear and to the point. Thank you!
Just upgraded to the Sony 9000F soundbar, and I went looking for tutorials. So far, the Sony has really done great. It replaced a 15 year old Harmon Kardon 2.1 repurposed PC setup that worked okay, but was starting to short out. I'm on analog input for now until I upgrade TV to new 4k. Anyway, awesome video and info. Subscribed!
Basic, but it’s what a lot of people need and you explained it all perfectly, thank you.
Easy, quick and informative. Thank you man!
Simple, to the point - great video.
This is how to do a review/tutorial video. Short and straight to the point. Excellent.
